Caballero
Zifar

The name Bodegas Zifar is derived from the first novel about the knights’ crusades written in Spanish and dated to the year 1300.  Caballero Zifar  or the Zifar Knight tells the story of a worthy knight that suffered from great misfortune. Every 10 days his horses would be found dead and was forced to leave the kingdom from which his ancestors were once kings. Through exciting adventures, our hero is able to return to the kingdom to be crowned king. The novel tells the story of the life of saint, a romance and serves a manual of knighthood. This work is so precious it has been passed down from the 14th century, hand to hand, from the library of Enrique IV of Castilla to Bibliotheque Nacionale in France, where it remains today. Our visitors can enjoy an exact copy that we possess in our Winery.
